Welcome back to campus after Fall Break!
This week, our preschoolers joined the K-8 students for chapel for the first time this year. It was wonderful to hear their voices. Kindergartners enjoyed some fun games with Uncle Malik during PE. I don’t run with a smile on my face anymore but it makes me happy when the little ones do!
First graders were focusing on identifying nouns and grammar rules. Second graders conducted self-evaluations, likely in preparation for parent-teacher conferences with Mrs. Lewis. Third graders worked on their "5-a-day" exercise, focusing on irregular and regular plural nouns.
Fourth graders continued their class novel, Wonder. Fifth graders practiced estimation and completed extra work on Zearn. Sixth graders welcomed Mrs. Rolf, our long term sub for Mrs. Fletcher, who is on maternity leave. Mrs. Rolf is familiar with ELS, having previously served as a substitute teacher. Congratulations to the Fletcher family on the birth of their healthy daughter, Audrey Ann, on October 6th!
Seventh graders explored the formation of the first political parties in the United States, a timely topic as we approach Election Day on November 5th. Eighth graders reviewed order of operations for simplifying expressions by working with exponents.
Report cards and pictures should have been sent home this week. If you didn't receive yours, please contact your child's classroom teacher.
Happy first week of the second quarter!
Dippin Dots
As you well know, the Travel Team has been selling Dippin Dots and other treats after school on Wednesdays. We will be taking a two week break. No sales will take place on the 23rd or the 30th. Starting November 6th this will take place every other week. We are in need of some volunteers to help continue these efforts. The proceeds go towards those taking part in the Spring Trip. Contact the office if you are able to help. Set up usually starts at 12:30 and the shop closes up after dismissal at 1:45. The office will put you in contact with the organizers! Mahalo!
